Arizona LB Scooby Wright named an AP All-American

Scooby Wright is off the banquet circuit, but the honors still are piling up.

The Arizona sophomore linebacker was named economic crisis team All-American today through the Associated Press and Sports Illustrated.

Wright may be named an initial-teamer with the AP, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, CBS Sports, USA Today and also the Walter Camp Foundation.

He's aiming to become the first UA player to become unanimous varsity All-American since Chris McAlister in 1998.

To the to take place, Wright has to be named a first-team selection because of the Football Writers Association of America, the American Football Coaches Association as well as the Sporting News. The FWAA and AFCA are required to announce their All-American teams Wednesday.

With one game to experiment with, Wright has 153 tackles (including 28 for just a loss), 14 sacks and six forced fumbles. He leads the country in tackles for any loss and forced fumbles and it is tops inside Pac-12 in tackles.
